Medical and Healthcare Services

Thailand has a long history for the healthcare service since old days. According to ancient archives, Thailand’s traditional medicine came a long way. Although Thailand opens its door for modern medicine and medical education from the West to enhance skills of local health professionals and improve healthcare service in the country for centuries ago, the traditional medicine is still not out of favour even today, but has growlingly been popular.

Thailand does not only pride itself on the abundant natural resources, succulent cuisine, striking tourist attractions but also the hospitality in every sector of society. In the medical fraternity, the indiscriminating generosity with great kindness is a pulling power which attracts foreign patients en masse. Today, Thailand’s healthcare service industry has its name not only for excellent service and hospitality but also the top quality in terms of medical technology, treatment and healthcare professionals.

To run the medical business, the entrepreneur is required to seek permission from the Medical Registration Division under the Ministry of Public Health. In 1992, the Ministry of Public Health established the Hospital Accreditation of Thailand (HA) which evolves from the concept of the Total Quality Management and the Continuous Quality Improvement (TQM/CQI) and launched a pilot scheme in eight state-run hospitals.
