Thai University in Co-operation with Viennese Tourism School

On June 26, 2011  a Thai Delegation of the Bangkok Suan Dusit Rajabhat University visited the Hertha Firnberg School of Business and Tourism in Vienna and signed a co-operation contract for the next three years.

Since the year 2005 cooking and fruit carving courses have been organized at the Hertha Firnberg school. Up to 25 persons, Austrians and Thais living in Austria, participated on the 1 to 3-day-courses where they learned to prepare up to 15 authentic Thai dishes. Each participant received a certificate at the end of the course.

The representatives of the partner university now took the chance to visit the school in its new premises. After a warm welcome by Mrs. Mag. Ettl and Mr. Mitsche the group went to one of the school’s class rooms where a presentation about the organization and co-operation was given by two of the school’s students.

Mr Mitsche then gave a tour through the schools class rooms and kitchens which are now equipped the latest facilities. Later on the Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) on training courses of Thai cuisine in Austria was signed, which will be effective starting from July 2011 until September 2013.

The purpose of the M.O.U. covers:

  • Provide skill training courses of Thai cuisine for cooks and chefs as well as culinary lecturers in Austria.
  • Enhance capability on increase Thai cooking skills and techniques of professional cooks and chefs working in Austria.
  • Promote Thai ingredients, food products and relevant potential products and services to Austrian market.

The Suan Dusit Rajabhat University and the DEP is looking forward to the next three years of co-operation with the Hertha Firnberg School of Business and Tourism.
